Looking for a winter daily? 2012-2014 Acura TL SH-AWD w/tech pkg were available with the 6-speed manual. They are running around $21,000 right now and do have a handbrake directly next to the shifter. Only the 2010 model year (for this spec) had the oversized shield you associate with the 4th generation TL. (For the record though, I will say the TL wore it best and that going for a 2010 will probably get you a 100,000 mile super-Honda for $15,000 or less).
That is a fully loaded five year old Acura for less than the price of an HR-V. That vehicle uses the largest Honda car engine (the 300+ hp 3.7L V6) with their legendary 6-speed, and VTEC on both the intake and exhaust valves. Not to mention the Acura-bump in safety, technology, and materials. It also provides an AWD system that runs a front-bias 90/10 split regulary HOWEVER it can send up to 70% of its 270+ lb-ft of torque to each rear wheel.
Each. Rear. WHEEL!
That means the car will rotate as long as you manage the throttle after turn-in. In other words, it rewards standard hoon mentality. I’ll also remind you that the 2012 Acura TL SH-AWD 6MT was only $44,000 five years ago, so it’s retaining its value well for the class.

A) It still has a seem down it (front and back) which looks awful
B) It will not rotate particularly well, as the stability is not fully defeatable.
C) A 2010 is 7 years old, not 5.
I’m bitter, because it could be a nice package, but it’s ugly as sin and the electronics are intrusive. I had a CL type S, which was nice, but also over nannied.

Center seam is the best part of the styling. It made the Acura look as if they wanted to be a Cadillac CTS competitor with Saturn Aura approachability. I still think the 2012-2014 models are great all around and that it’s the right amount of enthusiast freedom allowance for public roads.

I’ve driven one of these and it’s nothing all that special, it’s just kinda cool that they offered a manual awd luxury car. I think these also suffer from high oil consumption so i’d be a bit iffy about getting one with over 100k

It looks like an off-brand plastic toy.
It’s the current Honda formula. You can have a good looking car with a ho-hum drivetrain, or a great drivetrain with an embarrassing exterior. Something went wrong about 12 years ago, and the entire line has been converted.

I swear I have seen de-beak custom grille packages for these.
I seriously question the detached cookie cutter suits who approved this styling.

Comparing the 04-08 TL to what replaced it makes me cringe.

Honestly anything with four wheels can be “hooned” on snow. This would sort of work, but there are cheaper ways to scrape your rear bumper along snowbanks. I’ve had lots of fun forcing vehicles to hoon that “should not” be able to slide on snow. My old Alero had a ton of rear bumper battle damage. I even lost a bumper from a Previa once tapping a loading dock.

Center seams are best seams.
(I cleaned that headlight later)

Yes. That was the best looking TL. This TL has the best drivetrain. Never the two shall meet.

Those seats and that manual are excellent.

Weird that there’s all the hate here for the looks on these cars. I like them but never really thought twice about the styling.
sm70- why not Duesenberg?

For me, it’s still the interior that keeps me out of most modern Acuras. They may be well-made, they look terrible. This is NDB for most people but one of the absolute most important things for me, so I can’t see myself buying any Acura made after 2004 or so.

It more has to do with the car it replaced than its own looks.
Much like the Banglized 7 and 5-series, where they replaced the E38 and E39. The 2004-08 TL was a tough act to follow and Acura proved it was incapable of doing so.

Going back and looking at pics of the 04-08 I see what you mean.

This is the only beak Acura I like. Dammit, now my dream garage is a manual TL SH-AWD with a 9-5 Aero V6 XWD. Time to move somewhere cold and snowy.
I have no idea why, but I see a bit of Boeing 727 in that front end.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Two fantastically beige transverse V6 haulers.

Yes it looks much better. So of course they took away the manual.
